1. Introduction
The Department of Remote Sensing Science and Technology in the School of Instrumentation and Optoelectronic Engineering is an important part of Instrumentation Science and Technology, which is one of the top A+ disciplines in China. Now it has a national first-class undergraduate major construction point of "remote sensing science and technology". Facing the urgent demand of the country for high-precision remote sensing instrumentation and intelligent perception in the field of space technology, the Department of Remote Sensing Science and Technology is committed to cultivating leading talents with a solid theoretical foundation, strong systematic ability, broad international vision, scientific spirit and engineering literacy, as well as the sentiment and ability to serve the country in the field of aeronautics and astronautics. Over the years, it has sent a large number of talents to China's aviation and aerospace sectors, many of whom have made outstanding contributions in their own positions.
This department has 15 full-time faculty members, all of whom have doctoral degrees, and 13 doctoral supervisors (including part-time doctoral supervisors). This department has constructed the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China for "Precise Intelligent Sensing of Air and Space Optics and Microwave Integration", the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China for "Precision Optical, Mechanical and Electrical Integration Technology", the Imaging Remote Sensing Research Department and the Blue Sky Innovation Team for "New Optical Imaging Detection Technology and System". Imaging and Remote Sensing Research Department of the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education of China, "New Optical Imaging Detection Technology and System" Blue Sky Innovation Team. The research interests include intelligent spectral imaging, polarization imaging and remote sensing, optical field imaging, digital holographic imaging, precision 3D visual measurement, optical remote sensing full-process simulation and full-task analysis, remote sensing radiation modeling and quantitative remote sensing, remote sensing of vegetation, remote sensing of the water environment, atmospheric monitoring and intelligent weather prediction, and target detection and identification, etc. The department has been responsible for many national and provincial/ ministerial projects. The department undertakes a large number of national and provincial scientific research projects, and has made important breakthroughs in the theory and methods of optimal design of optical remote sensing systems, multi-mode intelligent perception of complex environments, and theoretical development of wetland remote sensing models.
2. History
The major of Remote Sensing Science and Technology of Beihang University originated from the "Instrumentation and Automation" major, which is established at the beginning of Beihang University, aiming to cultivate talents in airborne instrumentation and sensors for the country. With the development of national aerospace industry, the direction of the program has changed from electromechanical equipment to optoelectronic equipment and then to optoelectronic imaging equipment, and the field of service has expanded from attitude measurement of aircraft to airborne detection and sensing.
In 2007, in response to the national strategic need for aerospace optical remote sensing personnel, the establishment of "remote sensing science and technology" major and began enrollment in 2008, the "national defense characteristics of the shortage of specialties" was awarded in the same year. Since 2010, the school gradually implemented the reform of large class enrollment, the major of remote sensing science and technology has been enrolled in the information engineering, instrumentation, aerospace and information class, students formally determined their major after the sophomore year. The Department of Remote Sensing Science and Technology was established in 2012, Beihang set up a special faculty to meet the needs of the national construction of remote sensing systems for the aerospace talents. This department also enroll the undergraduate students in the discipline of "Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing" (National Defense Characteristic Discipline) from 2007 to 2016.
3. Faculty
The Department of Remote Sensing Science and Technology has 4 professors and 11 associate professors. There are 13 doctoral supervisors (including part-time doctoral supervisors), 1 expert with special allowance from the State Council, 1 New Century Outstanding Talent from the Ministry of Education, 1 Outstanding Teacher from Beijing Municipality, 1 Outstanding Contributor to the First Lunar Exploration Project, 1 Young Talent Supporting Project from China Association for Science and Technology, 1 person enrolled in the Ministry of Science and Technology of the National Remote Sensing Center "remote sensing young scientific and technological talent innovation support program" 1 person selected Beihang "Lide Shuren" award, 1 person elected as Beihang Blue Sky Scholars; 1 person6 people elected as blue sky young talent. This department is an enterprising team with distinctive characteristics of air and space letter integration.
