The Department of Intelligent Perception Engineering at the School of Instrument Science and Optoelectronic Engineering is an important component of the national double-first-class A+ discipline "Instrument Science and Technology". The Department of Intelligent Perception Engineering is intended to train high-quality composite/applied professional talents of intelligent perception, intelligent sensor design and manufacturing, intelligent measurement and biomimetic perception, intelligent equipment, intelligent manufacturing as well as other related fields, who are engaged in works such as research, development, and management. In order to meet China’s urgent needs for intelligent perception engineering talents, combining the "Double First Class" advantage of the "Instrument Science and Technology" discipline, our school obtained approval for establishing the Intelligent Perception Engineering discipline in 2020.

In terms of scientific research and personnel training, the Intelligent Perception Engineering discipline actively explores new principles, methods, and cutting-edge technologies based on advanced quantum control, intelligent chips and other fields, to meet the significant needs of national defense and economic development. This department has undertaken and led multiple national level major and key research projects, including national key R&D program projects, national "Quantum Special" major scientific research projects, and National Natural Science Foundation of China. We have won multiple provincial and ministerial level science and technology awards, as well as national level teaching achievement awards.
